How the math works
Interest compounds monthly at each debt's annual rate divided by twelve. Your total monthly budget stays fixed: the sum of every minimum payment plus your extra amount. When a debt clears, its minimum rolls into the next target instead of leaving your budget. Avalanche targets the highest rate first. Snowball targets the smallest balance first. Projections cap at 50 years and assume no new borrowing.
